The U.K. Parliament dealt with this dereliction scenario by passing a Senior Managers’ and Certification Regime in 2013 and applied it to the banking sector in 2016. U.K. law places personal responsibility on top executives. It is a criminal offense to make a decision that leads to the failure of an institution, with penalties of unlimited fines and/or up to seven years in prison.

Left to their own devices, if there are no consequences, banks will take unnecessary risks with depositors’ funds. But not with their own funds: Silicon Valley Bank CEO Gary Becker sold $3.6 million in shares two weeks before the crash, netting a profit of $2.3 million, and other board officers also sold shares this year.

Well, there goes your childhood.

As part of its content reevaluation, Publisher Ladybird Books has deemed titles like “Snow White” and “Cinderella” as problematic, citing them as “ageist,” lacking diversity, and putting too much emphasis on beauty.

In a report by The Blaze, the publisher, a subsidiary of Penguin, is taking an active effort to use “sensitivity readers” to point out any problematic parts of these books.

Numerous examples were given of how Snow White is “ageist,” including the fact that the villain is an evil old woman. Apparently, this sends the signal that old people are evil.

There are also apparently “too many white princesses with blonde hair and blue eyes” in the fantasy genre. I guess Tiana, Jasmine and Pocahontas weren’t considered.

Perhaps most strikingly, The Blaze reported publishers complained that Snow White assumed the prince was a man, saying the book should…
